In her latest book ‘Bright Shining’, Julia Baird describes seeing the whale shark, the world’s largest fish that can live for more than a century, as ‘observing a dinosaur at sea, one completely untroubled by the little fish travelling beside it.’
These photos aren’t mine but are by the photographer accompanying my family on their swim recently and were just too special not to share.
